Tell us a little bit about you

“My name is Christopher Ekuma, fondly called Chris by many. I am a Catholic by birth and a family oriented individual who believes in ‘live and let live’ and the spirit of conviviality.

With a profound love for nature and a strong belief in the goodness of humanity, I thrive on embracing new challenges and drawing lessons from every experience. My greatest joy stems from my happy marriage and the blessing of raising two wonderful children.

Proudly, I am an alum of Swansea University, having earned a Masters Degree in Communication, Media Practice, and Public Relations.”

What does your job involve?

My role as a Senior Support Worker in Ty Hiraeth entails coordinating the daily support for those we support, ensuring we comply with guidelines, whilst providing the best experiences for those within our care.

Additionally, my role involves staying on top of operational compliance in terms of facilities on daily basis, as well as supporting my hardworking colleagues as the Senior on Duty.

What’s your best way to unwind after a busy day at work?

Following a hectic day at work, I indulge in a wholesome and nutritious meal whilst engaging in uplifting conversations with my family and friends, and prioritising a restful night’s sleep!

Do you have any hidden talents or Hobbies?

I’m not sure about talents, but hobbies; I enjoy a challenging game of scrabble, reading, listening to music, and of course – watching the football.

What’s the best piece of advice you have ever received?

“Strive to be better than you were yesterday as every day is a new opportunity to grow.”

If you could switch jobs with anyone in the company for a day, who would that be and why?

If given the opportunity to switch roles for a day, I would choose to step into the shoes of my manager, Vanya Davies. Her exceptional ability to inspire and support our team at Ty Hiraeth is truly admirable and motivating. Experiencing her leadership firsthand would offer valuable insights into her strategies and approaches, allowing me to further develop my own skills and contribute more effectively to our shared goals.

What’s your favourite thing about working in Care?

The inner feeling I have, that I’m creating a positive impact on those we support. It’s a glow that keeps me going.
