Opened in March 2011, Gelynnen is newly built and located on the outskirts of Pencader in a small cul-de-sac, providing 24 hour social and personal care for up to four people. People living at the service are supported and encouraged to achieve their personal goals and aspirations. At Gelynnen, the staff team offers support and guidance for residents to seek employment, education, and training if or when appropriate to do so. We strive to provide opportunities and support the choices made by the people we support to become part of and participate in the local community.
Gelynnen is two homes joined together through an entryway on the first floor of the properties. Our Gelynnen service has four bedrooms, two of which offer ensuite facilities. There is also a staff sleep in bedroom on the first floor. The house has been finished to the high standard and has been decorated in a neutral colour throughout. People we support at the service are encouraged to add their own personal touches to their own rooms, including choice of colour and provision for redecorating and use of their own personal possessions to make the space homely. All rooms and facilities are clearly signposted in written, pictorial and tactile formats for ease of access and orientation. The ground floor offers homely and comfortable communal spaces; two roomy lounges are accessible to all residents, as well as two kitchens and dining rooms. The kitchens boast a high quality finish with solid oak units, generous work spaces and wooden flooring with all modern appliances; areas people we support will enjoy using to prepare their meals with the support and assistance of staff when required.
Gelynnen is situated in the small village of Pencader, around 3 miles from the larger town of Llandysul. Lampeter is reachable by car in under 25 minutes and by bus in30 minutes, providing access to a wealth of amenities including supermarkets, banks, restaurants and much more.
ILS selects staff with the right skills, qualifications, and experience to meet the required needs. Staff are recruited locally, so that their knowledge and connections can be used to benefit the people we support.
