Our upcoming Thomas Street supported living service will provide a ‘home for life’ for people who have behaviours that challenge, which will be fit for purpose and allow for more intensive management of care needs, whilst affording the least restrictions within a community placement. We believe that as a step-down facility from our care homes, it offers real choice and opportunity for people to move on into the community and towards living more independent lives. The success of Thomas Street lies in the real meaningful day of the people we support and reduction in care hours away from the controls of the care home facility.
We are excited to offer more comprehensive step-down opportunities, as well as welcome new admissions.

Our Thomas Street placement is modelled on our other successful supported living residences at Ebenezer and Wern Road. Thomas Street will be equipped with six large self-contained flats, and will act as a step-down service for both the people we support in our residential service, and new admissions.
All six flats will incorporate a double bedroom, fully fitted kitchen with integrated fridge freezer, oven and hob. There will be an energy saving boiler in each flat, along with a bathroom with bath and shower facilities. All Thomas Street flats will have the option to be adapted to meet a variety of needs; as building work is ongoing, we are able to purpose build facilities.
The people we support will have access to communal spaces including a kitchen, living room and an outside yard. Thomas Street will be a supported living environment that allows the people we support to hold their own tenancies. However, there are staff available 24-hours a day. The focus of the project is supporting adults to maintain their tenancies and successfully develop their daily living skills. We are able to provide a variety of support, this includes targeted tenancy support , 24-hour support packages and personal care. We have a lot of experience in supporting individuals with complex needs to hold their own tenancies. The support we provide can be as hands-on as required.
For those transitioning into Thomas Street from our residential services, there are additional benefits, from having support and contact with familiar staff, to a more seamless transition that comes from remaining within M&D Care. As we get to know the people we support better, we are able to tailor their person-centred plans even more to suit their needs and preferences.
Thomas Street is conveniently located along the M4 corridor, in Llanelli town centre, and within walking distance of all local amenities. There are a number of supermarkets, a cinema and the Millennium coastal path, all within walking distance. Both the bus and train stations are located nearby, providing good transportation to surrounding areas.
