Our Values Recognition Awards

As part of our values week celebration, we launched our very own M&D Care value awards. We asked staff and the people we support to submit nominations for staff who they felt best represented our values and have gone above and beyond in their role to making a difference. We were overwhelmed with the amount of nominations received from staff and the people we support, which made the judging process extremely difficult.

On behalf of M&D Care we would like to take this opportunity to thank all our staff and the people we support for submitting such wonderful nominations, it was heart-warming to see so many fantastic comments about so many of our dedicated employees, who are making a difference each and every day.

We are delighted to announce the 6 winners of our staff recognition value awards and we thank all of our winners for their dedication and commitment and congratulate them on this fantastic achievement. All our winners have truly been outstanding and excellent ambassadors of our values.
We are delighted to announce the winner of the Aspirational category is Michelle Griffiths.

In the words of her colleagues and the people we support: “Michelle has worked exceptionally hard in the opening of Ynystawe Lodge. Her passion and commitment reflects in her every day work and she is a fantastic manager, supporting her staff daily. Michelle goes above and beyond in her role. She continuously puts the service above her own personal needs and drives to have the highest standards. She always goes out of her way for all her staff and the people we support. Regardless of whether Michelle is on shift or at home, she ensures that all her staff and the people supported are safe and ensures that their welfare is prioritised. Michelle will allocate time to debrief staff after incidents regardless of what the time is and how long this will take to ensure that staff have had the time to process events that have happened. Michelle has supported staff to progress and ensures that staff are feel happy, confident and safe within the workplace and always does this with a smile on her face. She is an inspiration and amazing role model to us all.”

If anyone deserves this award then Rosalind does, over the years she has demonstrated the true feeling of togetherness in everything that she does and is a very trusting individual who has worked across our M&D Care services. Recently Rosalind spent a lot of time helping out in Domiciliary Care and supporting one particular individual and even in a short time was able to develop a good understanding of their needs, so that she could ensure the right support was provided. Rosalind always goes above and beyond to provide the best standard of care and support she can. She is amazing to work with and is known in Llys Penpant as everyone’s mother. Community Champions!

As part of our recently launched Community Champions scheme, which was developed to support charities and community groups in which our employees and the people we support have a shared connection with. We are proud to be sponsoring one of our colleagues Chris Honey-Jones.

Over the weekend Chris and his fellow colleagues Kevin, Bradley and Ieuan from Ynystawe Lodge, braved the elements to climb Pen Y Fan for charity. Chris has so far raised over £500.

As part of our recently launched Community Champions scheme, which was developed to support charities and community groups in which our employees and the people we support have a shared connection with. We are proud to have sponsored Chris Honey-Jones in his pursuit to raise money for Swansea Mind which is very close to his heart.

Chris would like to give something back to recognise the great work that Mind do. Having worked with people who suffer with Mental Health it is important to Chris to ensure support services continue to run to offer support to people in need. Charities like Mind heavily rely on donations to be able to continue running and offering a much needed service, especially during these difficult times.

We would like to take this opportunity in congratulating Chris, Kevin, Bradley and Ieuan on a fantastic effort.

Learning Disability Awareness Week

It’s #LearningDisabilityWeek and we are joining Mencap by #gettingcreative with our very own Pop Up Art Gallery here at the M&D Care Head Office. The people we support from across our services, as well as staff members will be able to showcase their fantastic work throughout the week. 🎨

These beautiful pieces of work have been on display all week at our Head Office, as part of our pop up art exhibition. Encouraging people to express themselves and their emotions creatively in a way that has meaning to them, plays a huge part in their mental health and wellbeing. We would like to thank the people we support for sharing with us such a captivating and inspirational collection of artwork.
