Great Achievements at the Llanelli Half Marathon

Our own Running Team with Gemma Howells, Head of People & Culture (centre).

The hugely anticipated M&D Care Llanelli Half Marathon took place on Sunday 25th September. The event, which we were delighted to headline sponsor once again this year, played host to an array of runners from fun loving amateurs to competitive elites.

Attendees appeared to be running on a high this year with hundreds managing to achieve their personal bests. Participants took to the route on closed roads, in what was considered perfect running conditions with little to no wind. Amongst the runners were our very own M&D Care running team, consisting of members of staff, and people we support.

We were also delighted that our M&D Volunteer team turned up in mass to show support to the runners, and help out on the day, handing our bottles of water along the route. We are extremely proud of our team,  with a special mention to the people we support.

We had a fantastic day coming together with our community, achieving fantastic things, from completing the half marathon to attending to support, many personal barriers were overcome yesterday, and it is for that we say a massive congratulations and well done, from all at M&D Care!

We are delighted that our M&D Care running team will once again be participating on behalf of local charity The Paul Ridd Foundation .

The Paul Ridd Foundation was created to support people with a learning disability, their families and carers when needing secondary health care. Through raising awareness of the issues faced when accessing health care, encouraging use of the health profile, ensuring that reasonable adjustments are made and so much more – the foundation is making a huge a difference for the people with learning disabilities!

We are honoured to be able to support a charity so close to our hearts. If you would like to sponsor our team, you can do so via our donation button below;

Welcome to the Inspiration Centre

Welcome to our Inspiration Centre, our new dedicated learning environment.

We’re excited to be relocating our People team, (HR and Learning & Development) to our recently acquired site in Parc Pensarn, Carmarthen.

The newly renamed Inspiration Centre will be the designated centre for HR, training and induction across the company and provides extensive, additional space, which will enable us to enhance our learning and development employee experience.

The centre will provide those attending induction and future training the opportunity to enjoy our new spacious learning environment, which is spread across two floors, with ample office space, two kitchen/dining areas, computer suite, a designated induction room, PBM & First Aid training area and Manual Handling practical room.

Gemma Howells, Head of People of Culture, comments,

“We are delighted to have repurposed the space into a dynamic training environment, to be used by our staff across the business. A great deal of thought has been put into the development of the Inspiration Centre, and its use of facilities, to ensure there is an inspiring space to spark innovation and creativity amongst our learners.

It’s imperative that we are passionate about the culture of our business and remain innovative in our approach. It’s this passion that inspires others and enables us to embrace our values and ensure they permeate through the core of all that we do.”

The Inspiration Centre offers strong transport links from Llanelli and Swansea to Carmarthen. It’s a 20 minute walk from the Carmarthen train station, and minutes from the Parc Pensarn bus stop, enabling non-drivers to have the ability to attend training easily. For colleagues with access to vehicles, the site has ample free car parking, for use whilst at the centre.

The building itself is located behind the Parc Pensarn retail park, which boasts a selection of supermarkets and eateries, all within walking distance from the Inspiration Centre.

We want to ensure our colleagues have the right training at the right time, enabling them to provide the best quality care and support to the people living within our services.  Our centre offers a warm welcome and inclusive, supportive environment.

Here at M&D Care we don’t just employ a team of trainers, we employ a team of passionate, motivated and like minded individuals for whom training is key to making a difference. This new learning environment will be central to ensuring our employees have the expertise, skill and knowledge to provide the people we support with the best care and support possible. Our dedicated, experienced Learning and Development/Training professionals look forward to welcoming visitors to our Inspiration Centre.
