Sam Newey

Rotherslade Manager

I first started with M and D care in 2017 as a support worker attached to western bay, during the induction progressI applied for a senior support worker and was successful. In September of 2018 I opened Wern Rd a new supported living scheme in the Neath valley. I successfully transitioned a person we support into the home after spending many years in hospital. In May 2019 I transferred to sunny mumbles and took on the role of senior support worker in a residential home, where I was guided and supported by the deputy and manager to start my level 5 and apply for the deputy manager’s role within the home. Later that year I took on the role as acting manager and once passed my level 5 was successful in becoming Rotherslade manager and are still in the home to the present time.

I find working in M and D as a manager can be on times challenging, however with support from the head of services, directors and my peers, there is always someone to call upon for advice if and when needed to point me in the right direction. In Rotherslade we have a diverse and dedicated team that are always prepared to go the extra mile for the people we support and each other, I’m very proud of the team at Rotherslade and all they have achieved.
