Kickstart Scheme 2021

Today we welcome the first of many placements as part of the Kickstart Scheme here at M&D Care. This is a fantastic opportunity that we are really proud to be involved in.

The Kickstart Scheme is a fund set up by the government, as part of the ‘Plan for Jobs’ to create hundreds of thousands of high quality 6-month job placements for young people. This scheme can help support young people to develop new skills and to help them move into sustained employment after they have completed their funded job.

Jobs from the Kickstart Scheme are open to 16-24 year olds, who are claiming Universal Credit, and are at risk of long term unemployment. If you have a work coach they will talk to you about the Kickstart Scheme and whether it’s right for you.

National Apprenticeship Week 2022

This week at M&D Care we are celebrating #NationalApprenticeshipWeek.

We want to take this opportunity to talk about the opportunities here at M&D Care, and how we support and encourage our employees in gaining an apprenticeship so that they can take the next step in life. The Kickstart Scheme was devised by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) to help get young people aged 16 to 24, who claim Universal Credit, into meaningful, high quality jobs with local businesses. Kickstart is a great opportunity, not only does it give those who qualify for it access to a six month paid job, they get valuable experience to help build up their CVs, with extra support to boost their future career prospects and inevitably help to start their career with many being permanently employed.

Support Worker Latoya Jones, who joined us back in April 2021 shares with us her experience of the Kickstart Scheme –

“Kickstart has given me a chance to have an experience in the care sector and I am really enjoying it so far. The opportunity has enabled me to be a part of a good team, and now I have the chance of a full time job with the hopes of one day becoming a senior support worker!”

To mark National Apprenticeship Week, we’d like to take a moment to welcome all of our Kickstart Applicants from the last year.
